Real Madrid Triumphs: Clinches 36th La Liga Title

Real Madrid secured their 36th La Liga title after Barcelona’s unexpected 4-2 loss to Girona, cementing their lead with four games left in the season. Carlo Ancelotti’s squad had paved the way with a convincing 3-0 victory over Cadiz earlier in the day, leaving Barcelona with a must-win situation at Estadi Montilivi.

Although Barcelona led 2-1 at halftime, Girona’s three second-half goals dashed their hopes, granting Real Madrid an insurmountable lead at the top of the standings. This triumph marks Ancelotti’s second La Liga title with Real Madrid, adding to his previous success in the 2021-22 season.

Key to Real Madrid’s dominance has been England midfielder Jude Bellingham, who contributed significantly with 18 goals in 26 La Liga appearances during his debut season with the club. Bellingham celebrated the victory on social media, declaring “CAMPEONES!!! HALA MADRID Y NADA MAS!!!” (“Champions!!! Go Madrid and nothing more!!!”).

Bellingham joins a prestigious list of English players who have triumphed in La Liga, including Laurie Cunningham, Steve McManaman, David Beckham, and Kieran Trippier. Real Madrid’s remarkable season includes just one league defeat and the potential to finish with 99 points, their second-highest total ever.

With a comfortable lead in La Liga, Real Madrid now turn their focus to the Champions League, where they face Bayern Munich in the semi-final second leg at the Bernabeu. The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena, setting the stage for an intense battle as Real Madrid aim to add European glory to their domestic triumphs.
